I spent more then 2 weeks breaking my head why my hdd showed only half of the capacity. got a bsod and here we go! I have a maxtor 160gb. it has 320gb space & not shown by another computer when it was connected. However, if there is no need to keep them any more (a system backup has been made, for example) but you cannot delete them in Disk Management, please see Cannot Delete Why did WD say 320 on the hard drive when in reality it's only 298gb.

I have covered that in my article. I purchased a 320 gb hard drive and it was telling me I only had 298 gb. At the end of the process, it says it can't open the drive, and the drive no longer shows up in Finder. I can't enable LB48 mode again.
