So much so Firefox hangs, Chrome hangs.. Have you left it long enough ? Your configuration, during power on could have been on the borderline and the added surge with the 2nd HDD pushed you over the edge. Is your drive SATA-I or SATA-II? what to do????

artart00Feb 7, 2014, 4:40 PM Hi aeternum91,In my case it really ended up being the power supply. I have tried pressing F8 to get into the options to recover the machine but this does not work. Here is exactly what happened and maybe someone has some insight on why both drives went bad. I put my laptop hard drive Seagate ST950042 0AS 500 gb (it stopped working) into external enclouser and plug into my other laptop throughr USB. Upon the reboot it is not doing anything eventhough floppy drive is in the boot sequence. The new sata hard drive is 500GB - I don't know if this is a problem. Thanks July 13, 2012 Dave I don't suppose you have an external enclosure you can try it in. Recuva runs under windows. Check to make sure that no cables are loose. Do you have a Windows XP disk?
