Coming back and installing it in my old computer, I just saw that my DVD player was on IDE (yup…). Ran Windows Upgrade Adviser on the XP machine and report says the machine is suitable for Win7 64. It took over 6 hours for the "Checking for Updates" to run (a known problem which apparently is fixed by some of the newer updates).
