Last year I had repair the motherboard and after repaired I was told that there is no operating system on the machine. I just reached under the bottom front of the monitor and grabbed the cable between 2 fingers and gave it a little wiggle and the double image was gone instantly. I just moved the screen a tad, moved the speakers etc., and voila! "Bob's your Uncle" as we say in the UK. I checked the power cable where it enters the back of the monitor and it was a tiny bit loose, so I pushed it in to seat it better, and that I was thinking it was my monitor, I just unplugged and it was fixed!!! I closed the lid and instead of picking up both corners, I opened the lid by the right corner, pushed the button and what do you know…it worked!
Am so happy I didn't spend hours looking as this was the first site I linked to. Since, the above didn't correct the problem, i like to point out, then the monitor was still "plugged in", very bad. still that smearingI tightened the cable and poof. Also some laptops have a magnetic switch (newer Dells, most Macs, etc.) that doesn't get stuck. Lcd Monitor Has Shadows Thanks so much!
