WARP (which stands for Windows Advanced Rasterization Platform) basically gives users DirectX 10/10.1 support without needing a GPU. If there is no tool or setting to do that, I was thinking I could use something like Detours (http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/projects/detours/) or EasyHook (http://easyhook.codeplex.com/), and perform binary rewriting on the code. WARP does not require graphics hardware to execute. In fact, given these performance figures I really don't see WARP being suited to gaming at all because a good GPU is cheap enough not to matter.

When WARP is running on the CPU, it is limited compared to a graphics card in a number of ways. Give the VM enough CPUs and it should run pretty well.
